The SAP Content Server is a stand-alone component / server provided by SAP in which documents of any format can be stored. The documents are typically stored in one or more MaxDB, instances, or the file system. The SAP Content Server is usually run on Windows, but it can also be installed on Unix or Linux OS.

You can use the SAP content server to store Data Archiving Files, Print Lists, Outgoing Documents, Scanned in Documents (Tungsten (formerly Kofax) Capture and the Verbella Tungsten Automation Export Connector – SAP is required. 

In order to scan in documents, you would need a scanning application with an SAP ArchiveLink interface. Our preference here at Verbella is to use Tungsten (formerly Kofax) Capture with the Verbella Tungsten Automation Export Connector – SAP. Tungsten Capture is used to operate the scanner and capture documents, while the export connector is used to integrate with SAP via SAP ArchiveLink and supports all the standard archiving scenarios out of the box.

It averages about 2-3 weeks. A typical imaging project will require some analysis work in order to gather the document and scanning requirements. Then the installation of the SAP Content Server, and Tungsten Automation (formerly Kofax) Server/Clients and installation of a scanner with Tungsten VRS. Finally, some SAP configuration is done in order to proto-type document imaging scenario.

Yes, this is a very common practice by redirecting the attachments from being stored on the SAP database, to the SAP Content Server. By doing so you’re ultimately saving space and increasing performance of the SAP system.

In most case any scanner using ISIS drivers could be used, we recommend and resell Fujitsu scanners. For lower a lower volume of documents, MFP’s (Multi-Functional Printers) could also be used.

Tungsten Capture and Transformation are legacy platforms that have reached the end of their long-term product lifecycle. Like many software vendors, Tungsten is focusing ongoing investment on modern, cloud-ready automation platforms while providing a defined runway for customers still using legacy products. 

Tungsten is not forcing customers to migrate immediately, but it is requiring customers to make a defined decision beginning in 2026.

Customers have two options:

• Move Up to Tungsten TotalAgility, which provides continued support for existing Capture and Transformation environments while also granting access to TotalAgility and flexibility to migrate over time.
• Elect a final legacy support extension, which provides support for Capture and Transformation only, for a fixed term, with no future extension options.

The key change is that doing nothing is no longer an option. A decision in 2026 determines how long support remains available and what paths are open going forward. 

Support does not end on a single universal date. Instead, 2026 represents the final renewal window.

• Customers who choose a final legacy support extension receive support for the selected term (typically 1 to 5 years). Support ends permanently at the conclusion of that term.
• Customers who choose to Move Up to TotalAgility receive continued support for their existing Capture and Transformation environment alongside access to TotalAgility, allowing them to migrate on a timeline that fits their business.

In both cases, once the selected term concludes, legacy Capture and Transformation support ends permanently with no further extensions available. 

Yes. Ongoing support is provided only for the latest supported versions of Tungsten Capture and Tungsten Transformation.

Customers running older versions may need to complete a version upgrade in order to remain supported, regardless of whether they choose a final legacy support extension or the Move Up to TotalAgility option.

These version upgrades are typically much simpler than a full platform migration and are a normal part of maintaining vendor-supported software. As part of either path forward, Verbella helps customers review their current versions and plan any required upgrades so they remain supported for the duration of the selected term and, if applicable, while preparing for a future transition to TotalAgility. 

If no renewal decision is made, support will expire at the end of the current contract term. Once support ends, there are no options to reinstate maintenance or support for these products. 

The software may continue to run, but it will no longer be supported. This means no patches, fixes, or vendor support, which can introduce operational, security, and compliance risks. 

No. Customers may choose either the Move Up option or a final legacy support extension. However, only the Move Up option provides access to a modern platform and long-term supportability. 

No. The Move Up option provides time and flexibility. Existing Capture processes continue to function while customers plan and execute a transition at their own pace. 

Yes. Both available options include a pricing uplift compared to historical renewals.

However, the value differs significantly between the two paths:

• A final legacy support extension includes an uplift but only maintains the existing Capture and Transformation environment for a limited time.
• The Move Up to TotalAgility option includes an uplift as well, but also provides access to TotalAgility licenses, modernization flexibility, and a supported path forward.

For many organizations, the Move Up option delivers substantially more long-term value for a similar investment. 

Capture is a legacy document capture platform. TotalAgility is a modern intelligent automation platform that supports document processing, workflow, integration, AI-assisted extraction, and cloud deployment. 

Many customers view the Move Up option as a lower-risk, more flexible path forward.

It allows organizations to continue running their existing Capture processes while gaining access to a modern automation platform and avoiding a future hard stop. Rather than paying solely for limited-time legacy support, customers gain optionality, modernization readiness, and long-term supportability. 

SAP data archiving before S/4HANA migration is the process of removing historical transactional data from the primary SAP database while preserving secure access to it in an archive repository.
